Stacey Pelinka enjoys performing a broad spectrum of classical music, especially contemporary chamber music. Her favorite experiences involve music-making through community: rehearsing and performing chamber music with friends, and working with composers to bring new pieces to life. Stacey has premiered many pieces, and treasures the long-term relationships she has forged with several composers and the musicians of the Left Coast Chamber Ensemble, which she joined in 1998. She is also a founding member of the Eco Ensemble, resident at UC Berkeley and CNMAT. Stacey plays principal flute with San Francisco Opera’s Merola Program productions and the Midsummer Mozart Festival, second flute with the Berkeley Symphony and the San Francisco Chamber Orchestra, and piccolo with the Santa Rosa Symphony. As a freelancer, she performs with the San Francisco Symphony and Opera as well as many other Bay Area ensembles. Stacey plays baroque flute as a chamber musician and freelancer, and is learning to play the Irish flute following a trip to Ireland in 2022. A certified Feldenkrais Method® practitioner, Stacey has taught Feldenkrais classes for the musicians of the San Francisco Symphony, and her flute teaching has a strong somatic focus. She currently teaches flute at UC Berkeley and UC Davis, and has also taught baroque flute at the San Francisco Conservatory. Born and raised in the Bay Area, Stacey attended Cornell University and the San Francisco Conservatory, where she studied with Timothy Day.
