Read the full interview with Volti SF’s Executive Director, Giacomo DiGrigoli. Left Coast Chamber Ensemble will collaborate with Volti SF during On the Threshold of Dreamland, part of Left Coast’s Winter Wandering Festival.
Is there a particular piece that Volti is most looking forward to performing during On the Threshold of Dreamland, and, if so, why?
Volti is especially excited to perform the world premiere of This Place composed by LJ White with text by Aiden K. Feltcamp. This piece perfectly captures the dreamlike theme of our concert while asserting a desire to be present in an everchanging, imagined landscape. It blends Volti's vocal artistry with Left Coast Chamber Ensemble's instrumental virtuosity.
In your opinion, what is the role of collaborations between ensembles in the arts community, and in what ways might collaborations bring communities together?
Collaborations like this one demonstrate the power of collective creativity, enabling us to push artistic boundaries and create something larger than ourselves. They foster connections not only between the performers but also within the audience, bridging diverse communities through shared artistic experiences. These partnerships remind us that art thrives on collaboration and mutual inspiration.
Is there anything else you'd like to share about the concert?
This concert invites audiences to explore a dreamlike world of sound, featuring stunning contemporary compositions that highlight the best of both ensembles. We’re also thrilled to showcase the premiere of pieces that reflect deeply on themes of imagination and transformation. It’s an unforgettable evening celebrating the magic of live music and collaborative spirit.
