We would like to extend our gratitude to Anna Presler for serving as Artistic Director for the past 15 years. A note from Anna:

Dear Left Coast Friends and Subscribers,

It has been my great pleasure and privilege to serve as the Artistic Director of Left Coast Chamber Ensemble for the past fifteen years. What an adventure, and what a wonderful group of people to have it with! You all–the wonderful audience, musicians, board members and staff of this organization–have made my time in this position rewarding beyond anything I could have dreamed of.

At the end of our 30th season I passed the torch to the next leader for Left Coast. Happily, this is not goodbye. While I am stepping down as Artistic Director, of course I’ll continue to play in Left Coast, and I will see you all at our concerts.

I am delighted to let you know that Matilda Hofman has agreed to be our Artistic Director beginning with Left Coast’s 2023/2024 season, our 31st. Since we worked as co-directors of the ensemble this year, I can tell you with complete assurance that she brings wonderful musicianship, intelligence, energy, and spirit to the organization.

Matilda has put together a great season of concerts for next year, with the signature Left Coast conversation between old and new music. Left Coast will perform in two concerts as part of the inaugural statewide California Festival. You’ll hear us in one collaboration with the San Francisco Girls Chorus and another with Peralta Hacienda, and enjoy music of well-established composers like Johannes Brahms and Kaija Saariaho alongside new unknown treasures.

I look forward to seeing you next year. Come kick off the year with us at the Fall Gala on Sunday, October 8, 2023.
